Peter ZOMBOLA was born in Budapest (1983). He started to learn music at age 6 and after completing the Bela Bartok Secondary School of Music he was successfully selected for the Liszt Academy of Music. He completed both his Music Composition and his Music Theory Teacher degrees Summa Cum Laude (2001-2006).
He also gained his PhD title at the Music Academy (2006-2009). His thesis was focusing on minimalist music particularly on the tintinnabuli system in the work of Ärvo Part.
Zombola composed many choir works, music for contemporary theaters, films, dance companies and advertisements. However, his biggest work is undoubtedly his Oratorium trilogy: all three pieces written for a symphonic orchestra and a monumental mixed choir:
- Kaddish, Part III of Oratorio Trilogy, 2027
- Passio, Part II of Oratorio Trilogy, 2015
- Requiem, Part I of Oratorio Trilogy, 2012
Zombola received some of the most significant national music awards – Composer of the Year, International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) & Erkel & Junior Primaaward & Bartók-Pásztory award – and also known internationally both as a composer and a university professor.
